DROP OFF / PICK UP POINT

The pick up and drop off points for the festival is located in Green Car Park Z, and is accessed by pedestrians through Paintball Gate.

  • There are so many ways to make your way to Electric Picnic! However, please remember travel accounts for about 80% of a festival’s total carbon footprint so we strongly urge all festival goers to use
    public transport or car share.

Travelmaster- will run a nationwide return service to Electric Picnic from €30, from the 1st to 4th of September.

Marathon Coaches

Marathon Coaches are running coach services from Custom House bus stop 407 and North wall Quay in Dublin city to and from Stradbally, from the 1st to the 4th of September. Book online for discounted prices. See early bird discounts below:

Martley’s will be running a shuttle bus from Portlaoise train station to Stradbally. Cash only service. The cost will be €7 each way.

ELECTRIC PICNIC CAR PARKS

  • The Green Car Park is open from 16.00 on Thursday 1st September for Early Entry ticket holders only. The Red & Yellow Car Parks are open from 09:00 on Friday 2nd September until 13:00 Monday 5th September 2022. The car park is staffed 24 hours a day during this period.
  • Please follow the event signage and directions from the Gardaí when arriving to the festival, not the sat nav! There are different routes into the festival depending on the direction you are coming from and whether you are being dropped off, a weekend ticket holder, a family ticket holder, bringing campervan/caravans or a day ticket holder.
  • All attendees travelling to the event by car are required to park within the car parks they are directed to by the Gardai and event staff.
  • Parking is free at the festival. These car parks allow access to all general camping areas. No sleeping, camping or fires are allowed in the car parks.
  • Please note that tow-away vehicles are in operation throughout the event and will remove any illegally parked cars. There will also be a local recovery service based onsite on Monday morning.

BY CAR

M7 Southbound (from Dublin and the North)

Event car traffic should exit the M7 at Ballydavis Interchange Junction 16. Please follow event traffic signage and Garda on duty will direct you to the designated parking areas.
M7 Northbound (Limerick and the South West)

Continue on M7 and exit at Junction 17. Please follow event traffic signage and Garda on duty will direct you to the designated parking areas.

 

M8 Northbound (Cork and South)
Exit the M8 at Junction 3 for Ballacolla and Abbeyleix. Please follow event traffic signage and Garda on duty will direct you to the designated parking areas.

N80 Carlow & South East
Travel along the N80 and N78 to Simmons Mills and proceed via the Windy Gap into Stradbally. Turn left at Court Square (opposite Dunne’s pub) onto the Timahoe Road and turn left into the designated car park.

N80 West

Proceed via Mountmellick and onto Portlaoise Town. At Fairgreen Roundabout turn right onto the ring road. Continue to Mountrath Road R445 and turn right. Continue to Rockdale Roundabout and turn left onto the Ring Road L26964-0. Turn right at the Roundabout onto the N77 to Meelick Junction where traffic route merges with event traffic from M7 Northbound and Limerick South West, above.

BY CAR – EARLY ENTRY (THURSDAY ONLY)

M7 Northbound / Southbound & M8
Arriving Thursday 29th August – M7 Northbound / Southbound and M8. Take Junction 16 Ballydavis, Portlaoise and proceed onto the R445 (Old Dublin Road). Turn left onto the R425. Continue straight through the Roundabout at Bloomfield Cross. Keep left at the fork to continue on the R426. Turn left on to the R427 signposted Stradbally. Continue on the R427 and follow signage and direction of the Garda to the Green Car Parks.

N80 Carlow & South East
Travel along the N80 and N78 to Simmons Mills and proceed via the Windy Gap into Stradbally. Continue through the town to the Green Car Parks.

N80 West
Turn right at Bloomfield Cross Roundabout onto the R425. Keep left at the fork to continue on the R426. Turn left on to the R427 signposted Stradbally. Continue on the R427 and follow signage and direction of the Garda to the Green Car Parks.

 

BY CAR – SUNDAY TICKET HOLDERS

M7 Southbound (Dublin & North) / M7 Northbound (Limerick & South West) / M8 North (Cork & South)
Take Junction 16 off the M7 towards Bloomfield Cross on the R445 in the direction of Portlaoise. Turn left onto the R425, heading towards the N80, Stradbally. At the roundabout take the first exit onto the N80 Stradbally. Before you enter the town turn right into the designated car parks.

N80 – Carlow & South East
Travel along the N80 and N78 to Simmons Mills and proceed via the Windy Gap into Stradbally. Turn left at Court Square (opposite Dunne’s pub) onto the Timahoe Road and turn left into the designated car park.

BY CAR – FAMILY WEEKEND

PLEASE NOTE, YOU MUST HAVE FAMILY WEEKEND TICKETS IN ORDER TO PARK IN THE FAMILY CAR PARK. YOU WILL NEED A FAMILY WRISTBAND TO RE-ENTER THIS CAR PARK

  • M7 Northbound & Southbound
    Take Junction 16 off the M7 towards Bloomfield Cross on the R445 in the direction of Portlaoise. Turn left onto the R425, heading towards the N80, Stradbally. At the roundabout take the first exit onto the N80 Stradbally. Continue along the N80, the family car park is in the centre of the town on the left hand side, and will be sign posted.
  • N80 – Carlow & South East
    Take the N80 and N78 to Simmons Mills and proceed on the N80 via the Windy Gap into Stradbally. Continue along the N80, the family car park is in the centre of the town on the right-hand side and will be sign posted.
  • Family Weekend Ticket holders can park their cars in the designated Family Car Park located in Stradbally Town.
  • Family Weekend Ticket holders can park their cars in the designated Family Car Park located in the Abbey Field in Stradbally Town.

GENERAL CAMPERVAN & CARAVAN

ONLY CAMPERVANS/CARAVANS THAT ARE PROPERLY ACCREDITED WILL BE ALLOWED TO ENTER THE ZONE.

Arriving Thursday 1st September – M7 Southbound (Dublin & North), M7 Northbound (Limerick & South west) and N80 (West)
Take Junction 16 off the M7 towards Bloomfield Cross on the R445 in the direction of Portlaoise. Turn left onto the R425, heading towards the N80, Stradbally. Arriving Friday 2nd September Onwards
M7 Southbound (Dublin & North), M7 Northbound (Limerick & South West) and N80 (West)
Follow the main event traffic – see car routing information on our website here. At Money Cross continue on the R426 to Timahoe Village. In Timahoe Village turn left in the direction of Stradbally, continue along this road until you get to the Apiary Campervan Gate, which will be on your left. Please note, there is strictly no pedestrian access through this gate.

All Days – N80 – Carlow & South East
Traffic should travel along the N80 and N78 to Simmons Mills, proceed via the Windy Gap into Stradbally. Turn left at Court Square (opposite Dunne’s pub) onto the Timahoe Road. Continue down this road and take a right turn into the Apiary Campervan Gate. Please note, there is strictly no pedestrian access through this gate.

All Days – M8 North (Cork & South)
Exit the M8 at Junction 3 (Manor Stone Exit) for Ballacolla and Abbeyleix. Turn right onto the R433 and proceed via Ballacolla village and onto Abbeyleix. At Abbeyleix town, turn left on the N77 through the town, and then just before exiting Abbeyleix turn right onto the R425 towards Ballyroan Village onto Cashel Cross. From here, follow the main road to the right onto the R427 where you will be diverted right at Money Cross onto Timahoe Village. Turn left at Timahoe Village and onto the Apiary Campervan Gate on the Timahoe Road, Stradbally. Please note, there is strictly no pedestrian access through this gate.

 

FAMILY CAMPERVAN / CARAVAN

M7 Southbound (Dublin & North), M7 Northbound (Limerick & South West) and N80 (West).

BY TRAIN

  • Portlaoise Train Station is the closest station to the festival. There will be a shuttle bus service from the Train Station to Electric Picnic, information about this service is available below in our ‘By Shuttle Bus’ section.

  • Anyone with a bike should come through the Tour de Picnic area. Bikes can be left in the designated area adjacent to the Tour de Picnic bike racks.

PRIVATE HIRE COACHES

  • All Coaches and Buses should drop off in the designated Coach Area, located in Green Car Park Z off the N80. Please follow the appropriate signage.
  • It is very important to us that all coaches notify and register with us in advance if providing transport to Electric Picnic, see details below.
  • If you are arriving in a private hire coach or minibus, please email enquiries@festivalrepublic.com with the following information:
    – Your name
    – Contact number
    – Drop off time
    – Number of passengers
  • Public Bus Passenger Services will also need to obtain an event or venue route licence in advance from the National Transport Authority.

M7 SOUTHBOUND

Follow the M7 until you reach Junction 16. At the Ballydavis Roundabout take the first exit onto the Heath Road. Follow the Heath Road / Rathmore Road towards Stradbally. At the top of Heath Road, take a right onto the N80 to Portlaoise. Continue along the N80 for a short while, the entrance to the Car Park Z will be on your left.

M7 NORTHBOUND / M8 – NORTHBOUND (CORK AND SOUTH)

Traffic travelling on the M8 Northbound, continue until it links in with the M7. Follow the M7 Northbound and exit at Junction 16. At the Roundabout take the fourth exit (towards Limerick and Cork). At the following Ballydavis Roundabout take the first exit onto the Heath Road / Rathmore Road. Follow the Heath Road towards Stradbally. At the top of the Heath Road, take a right onto the N80 to Portlaoise. Continue along the N80 for a short while, the entrance to the Car Park Z will be on your left.

N80 (WEST)

Traffic should proceed via Mountmellick and onto Portlaoise Town. At Fairgreen Roundabout turn right onto the ring road. Continue to Mountrath Road R445 and turn right. Continue to Rockdale Roundabout and turn left onto the Ring Road L26964-0. Turn right at the Roundabout onto the N77 and take the 1st exit at the next roundabout onto the M7. From here, follow the M7 Northbound directions, above.

N80 – CARLOW & SOUTH EAST

Traffic should travel along the N80 and N78 to Simmons Mills, and then should proceed via the Windy Gap into Stradbally. Travel through the town of Stradbally, keeping on the N80 toward Portlaoise. Continue out of Stradbally and then turn left into Car Park Z.
