ACCESS AT ELECTRIC PICNIC

At Electric Picnic we aim to create an event that’s truly accessible for all, which is why – for the past 15 years – Festival Republic (who own and operate EP) have been working in close partnership with Attitude is Everything to achieve this goal.

A charity set up to help improve deaf and disabled people’s access to live music, as well as to support the music industry in making live music events more accessible, Attitude is Everything started life as a pilot project in 2000, growing into a fully independent charity which is now part of the Arts Council England’s National Portfolio of organisations.

The Electric Picnic Access Team work all year round to improve the experience for access customers. Our team can be found at the festival itself, working alongside a team of dedicated volunteers who run the Access Check In within the Access Campsite and the viewing platforms within the Arena.

APPLYING FOR ACCESS

ACCESS REQUIREMENTS FORM

  • In order to provide the best possible experience, we ask that everyone who wishes to use the Access facilities at Electric Picnic complete and submit an Access Requirements Form before the 19th of August.
  • Our 2022 Access Requirements Form is available here:

ACCESS REQUIREMENTS FORM 2022

REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION

When applying for access at EP we ask that you provide one of the following forms of documentation which will act as evidence of your requirements. Without this documentation we will be unable to grant you access, or provide complimentary PA Tickets.

Please note: If you are on the Festival Republic Access Database (i.e. have previously applied and had an application approved within the last three years) you will not need to re-supply documentation.

Accepted forms of documentation are:

  • Disability Allowance Letter
  • Letter from a medical professional
  • D/deaf or blind registration
  • Blue Badge (Permitted for parking requests only)

If you do not have one of the forms of documentation listed above, please contact us and we’ll be able to advise further. Alternatively, if you do have required documentation but are unable to include it in your application, please state you will forward it to us (by email, fax or post) in the ‘Additional Notes’ box on the form.

All submitted documentation is kept strictly confidential and securely destroyed after processing.

ACCESS DATABASE

Whilst submitting your application form, you can choose to join Festival Republic’s Access Database. By doing so, once accepted a first time, you will not need to resubmit documentation for a further three years and will automatically be pre-approved for access at our festivals.

Please note: Once approved we will only retain your name and email address. We will never use your information for any other purposes (unless specifically stated) or share this with any third parties.

TIMELINE

We aim to process all applications within 4 weeks of customers submitting an Access Requirements Form; however, due to demand, this is not always possible. Once your application has been approved we will send a confirmation email, detailing the facilities you have requested access to, and confirming your PA Ticket (if applicable).

Nearer the event successful applicants will also be sent an email containing a downloadable Access Guide.

ACCESS GUIDE

Everyone who successfully applies for access at EP will be sent an Access Guide (via email) prior to the event. This will include detailed access information specific to the event.

Our Access Guide includes:

  • Arrival Information
  • Site Changes and Updates
  • Access Maps (including route distances, charging points, accessible toilet and platform locations and more)
  • Opening Times
    Access Facilities and more!

We recommend saving and printing a copy of our Access Guide for your own reference (once available). No hard copies will be available on-site.

A downloadable copy of our Access Guide will also be available here nearer the event.

PERSONAL ASSISTANT (PA) TICKETS

ADULTS

If a customer is unable to attend the festival without the support of a PA then we will provide an additional complimentary PA ticket. You can apply for a PA Ticket when completing your Access Application Form.

Please note:

  • You do not need to purchase a PA Ticket, however Access Customers will need to purchase a ticket for themselves before applying. We are unable to refund tickets purchased for PAs.
  • PA Tickets are provided on the expectation that PA’s are willing and able to assist you throughout your visit, and would be available and able to help you in the event of an evacuation.
  • PA Tickets must be applied for via the Access Requirements Form, and can only be approved by members of the Access Team.

CHILD (UNDER 12)

If a child under the age of 12 (aged 11 or younger) at the time of the event requires a PA Ticket, please contact us directly so we can advise.

TRAVEL AND ARRIVAL

TRAVEL

We strongly advise planning your journey before leaving for Electric Picnic. Specific travel information will be sent out via email to Access customers prior to the event.

If driving please be aware that traffic diversions, directing the public to the event car parks (including our Access Car Park), will be in place for the event. Those driving should follow the temporary road signs, rather than sat nav to Electric Picnic.

For those travelling by public transport, please refer to the Travel Section of this website for more information. If planning on using public transport, please be aware that the drop off point may be some distance from the event entrance and Access Campsite.

ACCESS CAR PARKING

Electric Picnic has two dedicated Access Car Parks; one located by the Access Campsite and the other is located close to the Event Entrance. Day Ticket holders should park in ‘Green Car Park Z’ and Weekend Ticket holders should park in the Access Car Park adjacent to the Access Campsite. If you require use of these car parks you will need to apply for Access Parking (via the Access Requirements Form).

Please note:

  • Blue Badge Holders must register with the Access Team to get an Access Parking Pass.
  • The Accessible car park has a limited number of spaces, please register to use the facility and receive an Access Parking Pass.
  • Parking in the accessible car park is limited, so friends and family arriving in separate vehicles will not be able to use this car park.
  • Parking passes are issued one week prior to the event and must be printed off and placed in your vehicle with all the required details filled in.
  • The Day Ticket Access Car Park (Green Car Park Z) is the closest public car park to the site, however, please be aware that it is still some distance between it and the event entrance.

ACCESS CAMPERVAN/CARAVAN PASSES

If you are applying to stay in the Access Campsite in a Campervan/Caravan, please do not purchase a General Campervan ticket.

We can accommodate a limited number of campervans in the Access Campsite. To bring a campervan please select this option in your application. We will then email you the link to purchase.

Please note: Campervan tickets are supplementary tickets and an additional charge. There are no electrical hook ups for campervans anywhere on site. General Campervan Terms and Conditions apply. All persons within the vehicle must have a valid ticket. Campervans cannot be parked with tents in the campsite; they will be located to one end of the campsite to comply with non-negotiable licence conditions.

ARENA FACILITIES

ACCESSIBLE TOILETS

Where possible, an accessible toilet will be located beside each of the viewing platforms with their use restricted to Access customers only. There will also be accessible toilets in the Accessible Campsite and located at the Medical Tent.

Please note that toilet service vehicles have limited access to toilets during the day due to safety issues relating to large vehicles being used around crowds. While we strive for the highest standards and employ cleaners as well as servicing vehicles, we ask you to bear in mind this is not a sanitised environment.

VIEWING PLATFORMS

There will be a member of the Access Team at every platform who will be able to assist with any problems or queries.

There are a limited number of seats on the viewing platforms. Seating is provided on a first come first served basis. However, Access customers are welcome to bring their own chairs.

Personal Assistants are welcome to use the seating on the platforms unless an Access customer requires a seat.

The viewing platforms have a very limited capacity and are strictly for Access customers plus 1 PA only.

To book your place on the viewing platform you need to complete the Access Requirements form.

There is a wheelchair accessible ramp at the viewing platform.

Outdoor viewing platforms are not covered; we advise attendees to be prepared for all weather conditions.

CHARGING POINTS

These are wheelchair charging points at some of the viewing platforms and inside the information tent in the Accessible Campsite. Please check the Access Guide for details on the locations.

If you need to bring medication with you, we recommend bringing a copy of your doctor’s letter or prescription. Please keep medication in its original boxes.

There will also be a fridge available if you require cold storage for your medication.

You can also use the medical tents if you need privacy to take your medication.

If you are unwell or require assistance, please approach a member of the Security and Stewarding Team who are clearly identified by their numbered tabards/shirts.

In the instance of a site evacuation please ensure that your PA is aware that they are your main point of assistance in an emergency evacuation.

Security and stewards located near the viewing platform will assist in moving everybody to a place of safety.

GROUND CONDITIONS / WEATHER

Electric Picnic is an outdoor event taking place on grassy farmlands at Stradbally Hall, situated within the village of Stradbally, Co. Laois. There may be large areas with no solid pathways or hard ground.

It is important to be aware that during inclement weather some parts of the site may be muddy, water-logged or dusty, and may be difficult to navigate around.
