Seasick Steve
Seasick Steve (christened Steve Wold) is the real, raw, rollicking deal. A man who learnt to play at the feet of someone named 'Gentleman George outta St. Louis'; a man who rode the rails as a hobo, lived rough playing "three string, two string, one string, sometime no string guitar", because "a lotta times, you didn't have all the strings. If you stop when you break a string you don't eat".
His experiences have helped form a distinctive approach to music. He endured and he's got the pedigree and story to back it up. All of which along with how accomplished a blues/ folk musician Steve is it means “Steves show is as raw, genuine and entertaining as it is distinct.
Just like his name. His latest album "I started out with nothing and I've got most of it left" received rave reviews all round and his live performances are now the stuff of festival as well as railyard legend.
"A more varied and – whisper it – sophisticated effort than 2006's Dog House Music, this album demonstrates just how much can be done, artistically, with the simplest of tools" Independent
