Quantic & his Combo Barbaro

Formerly known only as 'Quantic' and/or 'Quantic Soul Orchestra', Quantic & His Combo Barbaro is the talented and prolific alternative dance artist, Will Holland and his newly-formed multi-cultural band of exceptional musicians, whose remarkable world dance-music offers an explosive sonic snapshot of the ever-evolving musical landscape of the Americas.

Since his first 2001 album "The 5th Exotic", Will "Quantic" Holland has been picked up by such respected names in underground music as Richard Dorfmiester, Mr Scruff, Gilles Peterson, and LTJ Bukem. He became a beloved dance-floor feature with tunes like 'Common Knowledge' and the classic 'Life in the Rain', which mixed elements of Jazz, Funk and Afro, blended with tight breaks and Holland's distinctive production.

After the ensuing successful years as Quantic, and "The Quantic Soul Orchestra", Holland moved to Colombia in 2007, and has just made his first release as Quantic & His Combo Barbaro this year, on the crest of a burgeoning worldwide wave of interest in the lesser-tapped sources of music from the Caribbean, Latin America and Africa.

The stunning album "Tradition in Translation" came out on Tru Thoughts in July- a multi-cultural patchwork, fusing the rediscovered psychedelic, experimental and rhythmically rich sounds of the past with deep funk and soul elements. The record conjures up a unique brand of contemporary music that is a joy and a celebration to listen to, and a live experience that defies comparison.
