Mundy
Hugely popular Offaly singer/songwriter Mundy, the national favourite who brought us songs such as "July", "Mexico", "By Her Side" and "Gin&Tonic Sky", takes a break from his hectic UK tour to include a much anticipated set at Electric Picnic.
Mundy's thought provoking and reflective, yet fun and upbeat indie rock, flavoured with country and peppered with humorous lyrics, has made him an international phenomenon and domestic mega-star.
His 1996 debut "Jellylegs", released on Epic Records, included the stunning track "To You I Bestow", which was featured in the soundtrack for Baz Luhrmann's "Romeo + Juliet". Since this auspicious beginning he has made four hugely successful albums, released through his own label Camcor Recording, which saw the singer continue on the road to national and international renown.
His albums "24 Star Hotel" and "Raining Down Arrows" have both gone multi platinum, and reached number one in the Irish album charts. His cover of Steve Earle's "Galway Girl" from 2006 live album "Live & Confusion" spent five weeks at number one in the singles charts last year.
Mundy is regularly to be found touring the world with collaborators Sharon Shannon, Shane McGowan, and Damien Dempsey. His latest album "Strawberry Blood" features guest vocals from McGowan, Fergus O'Farrell, and Gemma Hayes. It came out in April of this year.
