MGMT
Since they exploded onto the scene last year with the release of their "Oracular Spectacular" album – which featured in just about everybody's top 10 albums of 2008; MGMT have been refining their show just like their name. To feel good anthems like "Electric Feel", and "Kids" and to the is-it-faux-or-is-it-real irony of "Time to pretend" and "Weekend Wars". Self styled 70's futurists. Stoner rock…prog rock Bowie-like journeymen for the 21st century.
With all the metaphysical moon-gazing going on about the lyrics one thing that is certain is that musically MGMT are never a cliché. As 'Time to Pretend concludes: "If you've got the vision/Why not have some fun?"
MGMT are a band full of musical depth. Even from one album clearly game to try everything once mashing influences together in a big pop blender. Albeit wearing matching silver capes and psychedelics to boot.

"For all its musical philandering, unbridled excess and shrouds of irony, you'll be hard-pressed to find a record with more musical depth and warmth all year than this one" - NME
