MadnessThe inimitable Madness- one of the most popular British bands of the early '80s, who have remained a band permanently held in the public's affections, as well as being a major influence and landmark in British music. Along with The Specials and The Beat, they spearheaded the ska revival in the late '70s and early '80s, and became increasingly and overwhelmingly popular as they broadened their musical horizons to incorporate soul and classic pop into their musical mix. Formed in 1978, Madness comprises the musical talents of Graham "Suggs" McPherson, Chas Smash, Mike Barson, Chris Foreman, Lee Thompson, Mark Bedford and Dan Woodgate. The band went on from their beginnings in Camden Town to release such classic British pop albums as "Absolutely", "Seven" and "The Rise And Fall". They spent a record 214 weeks in the singles chart in the UK in the '80s with hits like "Baggy Trousers", "House of Fun", "Our House" "It Must Be Love", and have lost none of their loose, loopy charm or potent musical chops in the ensuing decades. Their ninth stunning studio album “The Liberty of Norton Folgate” was released this year to absolutely huge acclaim. It reached number 5 in the UK album charts, and is widely considered to be the band’s best album yet. "The much-loved ska-pop band, 30 years after their debut, have ripped up the form book and delivered a knockout album" 5/5 Financial Times Web: http://www.myspace.com/madnessofficial LINEUP SUBJECT TO CHANGE |
