Lisa Hannigan

Haunting vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Lisa Hannigan makes a triumphant return to Electric Picnic this year, following the incredible success of her debut solo album "Sea Sew", which was released in late 2008, and has recently earned the singer a nomination for best British or Irish album of the year at the 2009 Mercury Awards.
 
Following on from illustrious local projects like the collaborative Oxfam/Fair Trade charity album "The Cake Sale", and guest instrumentals and vocals on the albums of fellow Irish singer/songwriter Damien Rice, Hannigan spread her wings last year to bring us a taste of her long awaited sublime solo material.
 
"Sea Sew" entered the Irish album charts at number 4, and earned the singer nominations for a Choice Music Prize and a Meteor award, as well as universal acclaim at home. Hannigan was quickly signed to ATO Records in the U.S., where her popularity has been growing rapidly since her duet "Some Surprise" with Snowpatrol’s Gary Lightbody was featured on TV series "Grey’s Anatomy".
 
Lisa most recently made her debut on "Later…with Jools Holland", showcasing her gentle airy vocals on brilliant 2nd single from the album "I Don’t Know".
