First Aid KitJohanna and Klara Soderberg, young sisters from Sweden, make up this intriguing folk duo, whose debut EP "Drunken Trees" came out last year on The Knife's label Rabid Records, and was given full re-release through Witchita in early 2009. Born in 1990 and 1993 respectively, Johanna and Klara are still in their teens, but the pure music they create speaks of bygone times and old souls. The emphasis is on narrative lyrics accompanying playful melodies with intense, dense harmonies. They describe themselves as "What Gary Numan would sound like if he made folk music". Their sound has the feel of forest folk songs, full of enchanting storytelling, and a sense of compelling, ancient mystery. It has much in common with artists like Vashti Bunyan, Devendra Banhart, Bright Eyes, Joanna Newsom, Karen Dalton or The Carter Family. Their first full album is set for release in January 2010.
