Echo & The Bunnymen
Chart topping 1980s alternative rock band Echo & The Bunnymen were the leaders of Liverpool’s Doors-inspired psychedelic movement, producing a dark and atmospheric sound full of punk energy, with lyrics along a consciously literary bent.
The group's major hits include singles "The Cutter", "The Killing Moon", and "Seven Seas", and their landmark 1984 album "Ocean Rain", which earned them a massive following at home and cult stardom internationally.
A long hiatus in the 1990s ended when lead singer Ian McCulloch and guitarist Will Sergeant reunited to release 1997 album "Evergreen". They have continued to record and tour since, releasing a further three excellent albums.
Echo & The Bunnymen have announced the release of their 11th studio album "The Fountain", due out through Warner later this year. Their most beloved album "Ocean Rain" was just launched into space last month with astronaut Timothy Kopra, who brought it along as his favourite album when he blasted off for the International Space Station on June 13th.
For their show at Electric Picnic, the band are promising a 'greatest hits' set covering the highlights of the three decades of their career.
