Traditional Irish folk and protest singer and stunning live performer Damien Dempsey makes a much anticipated return to Electric Picnic after an overwhelming set at Electric Picnic 2007.

A double Meteor award winner in 2004, and winner in the Best Irish Male category in both 2006 and 2007, Dempsey’s talent has led him to work and/or tour with such greats as Sinead O'Connor, Christie Moore, Bob Dylan, and the amazing Morrissey, who is such a fan that he signed the Dublin singer to his label "Attack" for the U.S. release of Dempsey's brilliant second album "Seize The Day".

Dempsey is famously a champion for social equality and social responsibility in Ireland, highlighting through his Sean-nós and Reggae-influenced work the plight of the traditional working class. His popularity at home and abroad is phenomenal, with two of his most recent albums, "Shots", and "To Hell or Barbados" entering at number one in the Irish album charts. His latest all-covers album "Rocky Road" was released last year.
