About Greencrafts
Nic & Marie set up Greencrafts in the 90’s with the aim of promoting significant and environmentally sound craft practice and over recent
years have witnessed its growing recognition as an integral and crucial aspect of the green movement.
As an environmental art & craft group involved in staging vibrant and
cutting-edge craft events, a core aim of Greencrafts is interaction. Specialist meets beginner to share practical skills and inspiration, enabling green philosophy and aspiration to be shifted into a practical reality -
whilst having lots of fun!
In a Greencrafts area, you’ll feel the pounding energy and spirit of all the makers during the day leading workshops
smiths forging hot metal
silver rings and shamanic drums
pole lathes chatter while shavings fly
bow-top wagons, yurts and tipis built
fire and flint, knives and arrows
glistening axes splitting and shaping timber
fluff and fur
rhythmic weaving of willow basketmakers
dazzle and delight
twinkling lanterns formed
raku kilns a blazing
By visiting the area as well as taking part in a choice of 'hands-on' workshops and learning a practical skill, you'll also discover how you might shift into a greener lifestyle yourself, to live lighter on the land.
You'll get to meet people who are living and working their practice, bridging the art of ideas, inspiration and philosophy with hard-core practicality, graft and common sense.
Greencrafts workshops cater for the total beginner to the more experienced specialist. Some are on a drop-in basis and other are bookable – always the best thing is to visit the area, take a stroll round
and check out the craftsperson in their pitch and book directly with them.
We're delighted to have been invited to Electric Picnic and look forward to developing a bespoke Craft area at this magic event. We hope that we’ll have opportunity to work with many new groups and individuals as part of this exciting venture.
Come and work with us and try a new skill, take away something that is truly yours. When you make something with care, positive energy, focussed skill and intent, the object takes on an almost talismanic quality. If you'd like to explore this for yourself, feel welcome to come to the area and be part of the magic with us.
