Festival Questions

  • Q: Where and when is the Electric Picnic on?
    A: Stradbally Hall, Stradbally village (15 mins from Portlaoise, Co. Laois). See our Getting Here section. Dates: 4th, 5th & 6th Sept 2009
  • Q: Who can go?
    A: The festival is an Over 18 event, Photo ID must be presented on arrival if age is in question. However: Children aged 12 and under are permitted free of charge, no ticket required. (13-17 year olds are not permitted even accompanied with an adult.)

Ticket Questions

  • Q. I purchased a ticket online at www.ticketmaster.ie over 2 weeks ago and still haven't received it, who should I talk to?
    A. Please contact Ticketmaster directly on Tel: 01-6486000.
  • Q: Can I get a one day ticket?
    A: No, the only ticket available is a 3 day weekend tickets which include camping.
  • Q: What if I don't want to camp, given that there is just the one ticket this year, am I to be excluded from going to the Electric Picnic?
    A: Of course not, we'd still love you to come to Electric Picnic even if you don't want to camp. You are free to stay elsewhere and come and go as you please.
  • Q: Are there more acts to be announced?
    A:Acts are announced during the run up so continue to check the website for updates between now and September.
  • Q: I’m trying to get a Campervan ticket but none seem to be available
    A: These are all sold out now. It is unlikely there will be any more released but we'd recommend registering your email address for News to be kept informed.
  • Q: I want to camp in the Family Campsite – what tickets should I get?
    A: You should purchase a Family ticket, one is required per adult. Children under 12 don’t need tickets.

  • Q: What is the line up?
    A: Click here to see the line up.
  • Q: Will the full running times for the different days be made available before the event?
    A: Yes they will be posted on the website and mailed to subscribers in the week preceding the festival.
  • Q: How can I stay updated on artist additions to the festival throughout the summer?
    You could subscribe to Electric News for all updates on Electric Picnic. More acts will be announced throughout the course of the summer so check the website for updates between now and September.
  • Q: Is it too late to enquire about my band performing at the festival?
    A: I'm afraid so yes

Entertainment Questions

  • Q: Will you be showing any hurling/football matches at the festival this year?
    A: No, there will be no sports events shown this year.

Camping Questions

  • Q: Can I park my car beside my tent?
    A: No, vehicles aren't permitted into any of the campsites for health & safety reasons.
  • Q: What facilities are there? Will there be showers?
    A: There are hot showers, wash basins and toilets. Their location will be shown on the festival map which will be available online closer to the time. Note: showers are communal, the bashful amongst you should bring swimwear!
  • Q: My wife & I would like to bring our children, where is the best place to camp?
    A: We have a designated Family Campsite, ensure you buy a Family ticket for each adult. Children are free. Click here to register your details and we will send you out a Family Guideline booklet closer to the time.
  • Q: Are there any alternative options to staying in a tent?
    A: There is a limited selection of beach huts, tipis & yurts available to hire. Click here to find out more.
  • Q: Is there any campsite you would recommend for someone who wants to get a good night’s sleep!?
    A: Yes there is a Quiet Campsite. Its location will be shown on the festival map which will be available online closer to the time. Watch out for signposts on arrival.
  • Q: Can I bring a Campervan?
    Yes. You will require a campervan ticket for the campervan. And each person travelling in it must also have a separate event ticket. Please note Campervan tickets are now sold out. Also note, ordinary commercial vans of any type will not be permitted so please do not purchase a Campervan ticket for anything other than a proper campervan. We would define this as having its own in-built kitchen facilities and toilet.
  • Q: Does everyone who wants to enter the Campervan area also need to buy a campervan ticket for themselves?
    A: No, only one campervan ticket is required per campervan, after that anyone traveling with it or using it just needs a standard weekend ticket, which will be exchanged for a wristband on arrival.
  • Q: Can I park a trailer tent in the Campervan park instead of a Campervan?
    A. Yes you can.
  • Q: Can I bring a caravan?
    A: Yes, you can park caravan into campervan park once it is within the size restriction of 7x7metres. Once it is positioned you will need to park car in Car Park. A campervan ticket will need to be purchased for caravan.
  • Q: Can I park a commercial style van (hiace, transit, etc) in the campervan park if I have a Campervan ticket.
    A: Sorry no, only proper purpose built campervans & caravans will be permitted.
  • Q. Can I bring a generator for my campervan?
    A: You are permitted to bring a small diesel generator. Petrol generators are not permitted.
  • Q: Can I have my Campervan hooked up to electric power?
    A: There is no facility to hook up your campervan to electric power sorry
  • Q: Can I pitch a tent beside my campervan?
    A: Tents cannot be pitched in the Campervan Park for health & safety reasons.
  • Q: Can I leave my car hitched to caravan?
    A: No, you will have to unhitch your car from the caravan and park it in
    general car park for duration of festival
  • Q: What washing facilities are there? Will there be showers?
    A: There is running water, toilets & chemical waste disposal facilities

Travel Questions

  • Q: I'm travelling from the UK - can you tell me best way of getting to the festival.
    A: Best airport to fly into is Dublin Airport. Read more on Travelling By Plane
  • Q: I'm trying to find out what bus I can get to the festival?
    A: There are official buses departing from Dublin & Beflast - Read more on Travelling By Bus. If you are travelling from other areas please check www.buseireann.ie or www.irishrail.ie for scheduled transport to Portlaoise, which is about 15 minutes from the festival site.

Access Questions

  • Q: What is the earliest I can arrive to the festival? And by when must I leave?
    A: The campsite opens 9am Friday 4th and will close 1pm Mon 7th.
  • Q: What are the age restrictions?
    A: 12-18 year olds are not permitted, even with an adult. Under 12's, accompanied, are permitted, free of charge. As the festival is still being developed it isn't completely child friendly and we definitely advise full supervision at all times.
  • Q: Will there be Disabled Facilites?
    A. Yes there will be a Disabled Campsite, there will be disabled loos & showers at various points throughout the site and wheelchair platforms in front of the main stages. Disabled festival goers do not need to register or book any special tickets. Find out more.
  • Q: Can I access my car during the weekend?
    A: Yes you are free to access your car any time you please.
  • Q: Can I leave the festival site and return during the weekend?
    A: Yes you are free to come and go as you please.

Food & Drink Questions

  • Q: How much beer can I bring in with me?
    A: 48 cans per person. There will be an off-licence on site for purchasing alcohol throughout the weekend, you can also buy your drink online in advance from the On-Line Off Licence and have it chilled and ready for you on arrival. Go To Off-Licence. Note no glass is permitted on site, plastic bottles only will be permitted.
  • Q: Will I be able to purchase ice on site?
    A: Yes, ice will be available in the Campsite shop.
  • Q: Will there be a shop on site where I can purchase basic provisions, ie. bread, milk, toilet roll?
    A: Yes, the Campsite shop will sell all basic provisions.
